Social Action and Outreach Projects

As a church we remained committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus by all possible means, and in recognition of this fact we purposely reach out to our surrounding community, speaking up as a voice of truth, justice and love in the midst of a lost generation. This agenda manifests itself in our commitment to social action and outrech projects either on our own or in conjunction with others. As a church we have an excellent reputation in the town for communtiy action, and work with all other churches in joint programming and planning. The church is an active member of the local council of churches for Rushden & Higham Ferrers and a key member of the East Northants Faith Group, our Minister Mark Lees serving part-time as their Development Officer, seeking to fulfil the faithworks charter and see "Faith put back in the heart of the community".

In 2007 in partnership with other churches locally we aim to partner with Christians against Poverty to set up a first class debt counselling and advice service to all peoples of East Northants.

Projects planned or operational at present include:

1) Kings Church of Higham Ferrers - Church planting outreach

2) Mums 'n' Tots Group

3) Friendship Club - For isolated and lonely in our community

4) Kings Pantry - Feeding and supplies to the poor and needy

5) Emergency shelter for the Homeless - Plans are underway to provide an emergency shelter utilising some of our underused outbuildings to provide a basic facility for those forced to live on the streets.

6) Debt Counselling - Plans are to join with other churches in East Northants to partner with Christians Against Poverty to provide the best possible Debt counselling service to the 40% of families struggling with out of control debt.

7) Street Pastors - An initiaive planned with others churches to see a community safety partnership developed with local police and council to put God's people on the streets in a way to share practically Gods message of love and peace.

8) Children and young peoples Performing Arts and Orchestra - Helping young people develop talent and ability, directing their energies positively for God.

9) IT projects - Work has already begun to devlop a fully functioning IT suite with Internet connection in the Church building.
